2.   Make a Collar and Name Tag for their new cat.

Materials:

·          Thin strips of craft foam – 10 inches long.

·          Round Head Fasteners

·          Thin tip Permanent Marker (to print the name)

·          Oval Shaped Tags craft Foam (you make need to cut them yourself if you can find them at your local craft store)

·          Stick on Beads – Optional

·          Stickers - Optional

Collar instructions:

Write the name of the pet on the tag with the permanent marker. Let the marker dry for a few minutes to prevent smearing. Then, put the collar around the pet’s neck and overlap the ends of the collar in back. Carefully poke a brad through both layers of collar and open the ends to secure the collar

In the center of the collar, use a fastener to attach the tag to the collar. Poke the fastener through the hole in the tag and then through the center of the collar. Open the ends of the brad to keep it in place. Decorate the rest of the collar with stick on beads or stickers or have the kids color shapes on the collar, leaving the tag blank.  When the kids are finishes decorating the collar write the name of the pet on the tag with the permanent marker. Let the marker dry for a few minutes to prevent smearing.  Then, put the collar around the cat’s neck and overlap the ends of the collar in back. Carefully poke a fastener through both layers of collar and open the ends to secure the collar.

  1. Decorate T-Shirts

Now they can decorate T-Shirts for their new animals that they have made.  Make sure you have cardboard between the shirts so when the children are decorating the markers do not bleed to the other side.  You can use normal markers.  Note: Do not decorate with glue or glitter glue as it will not be dry for your guests to put on their animals in time.  You can purchases these T-Shirts where you purchase the animals from.

Cat Theme Party Games:

1.  Cat and Mouse Game:

Time for an active game to get out the wiggles! Use one balloon for the mouse, and one of a different color for the cat. Sit in a circle. Start passing the mouse around the circle and when it is halfway around, start passing the cat around in the same direction. The goal is for the cat to catch the mouse. The trick is that the person holding the mouse when it is tagged is out. Also, if someone drops the mouse, he or she is out.

2.  Hunt the Mice:

Before the party begins, hide small toy mice (pictures of mice found on the internet) throughout the party room. Tell the party children to hunt for the mice, while acting like kittens. Divide the found mice evenly among the children. Give the child who finds the most mice a special prize.

3.  Giggle Kittens:

Ask all the children to sit in a circle except for the birthday child. The birthday child then has to go around the circle and make all the little kittens laugh by making faces and kitten sounds at them. The last child not laughing is the winner.
